Wooden piles Valente are made using pinus sylvestris (Scots pine) wood that comes from various woodlands across Eastern Europe and is selected by forest rangers that are recognised by the national institute of wood. To make the piles, the wood is cut, stripped, sharpened, and selected according to size. Then it is dried and brought to a humidity level, no greater than 25%. The next step is to soak it, according to the DIN 68 800-3 Standard in vigour, which is necessary for protecting the wood from mould and rot. On request, the wooden piles Valente can be made from chestnut wood, chosen due to habits and tradition in different parts of Italy: the wood comes of the mountains from the centre or south of Italy, normally from the regions of Calabria or Tuscany. This type of wood has a very compact structure that makes it water-proof. Thanks to this feature, piles made from chestnut wood maintain their quality over time.
